MONKEY AND FRANCINE IN THE CITY OF TIGERS, a 45-minute one-act children's opera by Kamala Sankaram and David Johnston, fuses monkey stories from India, China, and West Africa, to tell the story of Monkey and his brainy sister Francine. The Parksville Murders is the world’s first Virtual Reality Episodic Horror Opera. Two young women (Sarah and Corrine) wake up confused and terrified in a dark, surreal, music-filled world of incongruities and evil intentions, a space where Time seems to have curved in on itself somehow. Learn more >

Miranda 

commissioned by HERE Arts Center. FIRST PERFORMANCE AT HERE ARTS CENTER, NYC – 75 minutes: soprano, mezzo, tenor, baritone, ensemble, violin, cello, electric guitar, clarinet/tenor sax, bass clarinet/baritone sax, electronics

Miranda is a 60-minute steampunk murder-mystery chamber opera in which the six instrumentalists play, sing, and act all the parts. Through a lush score inspired by diverse genres such as Baroque opera, Hindustani music, tango, hip-hop, and found-sound audioscapes, Miranda’s story unfolds in song, sound, movement, video, and dialogue. Learn more >
